RUNWAY
Studio Instructor: Carlo Aiello
The design of this temporary pop-up runway originated from a simple study model on texture, in which the goal was to manipulate a single surface to create a formal logic. In this case, techniques such as scoring and folding were used to generate a sort of ventilated shell that allows for quick changes in density. The expansion and contraction of the strips controls the amount of privacy a space has, and the curvature of the material allows areas to be enclosed while still implying a sense of continuity from one node to the next.
