This project explores the idea of a building as an evolving concrete ribbon. The ribbon splits and tapers in certain areas to become porous, allow for light, create circulation, etc. Whereas concrete is usually perceived as heavy and rigid, here it is designed to seem lighter and more fluid. Studying ruled surfaces and the relationship of lines to planes to volumes informed the curvature of the ribbon. In some areas, it operates as more of a solid extrusion, and in others, more like a thin plane.
