ARTS FACILITY
Studio Instructor: John Dutton
This Silverlake-based arts facility consists of artist studios, an exhibition area, and classrooms. A system of concrete bands is used to define light, circulation, and various programmatic spaces throughout the site. The design intention was to let each individual band morph gradually while still creating a noticeable overall effect. Users are able to experience the formal qualities from both inside and outside the space by moving on top of, under, and through the bands.
